U.S. Senate
Roy Cooper

Former Governor and Attorney General of North Carolina, Candidate for the United States Senate
I was born and raised in Nash County…
My mom was a public school teacher and I attended public schools and worked summers on the farm. I represented everyday people and small businesses while practicing law in Rocky Mount, North Carolina, where I taught Sunday School for decades and raised three beautiful daughters with my wife Kristin. As Attorney General, I prosecuted thousands of violent criminals and kept them behind bars and protected North Carolina families, small businesses, and seniors. As Governor, I worked with Republicans to crack down on fentanyl and other drugs coming over the border. I led North Carolina to be one of the fastest-growing states in the nation with a good quality of life, a strong education system, more affordable health care, and better-paying jobs. I’m running for Senate to lower costs for working families and to be an independent voice for all North Carolinians.
Shannon Bray

Microsoft Certified Master
Shannon Bray is a technology leader, entrepreneur…
and U.S. Senate candidate from North Carolina with more than two decades of experience in enterprise systems, cybersecurity, and digital transformation. He has worked across government and industry helping organizations modernize infrastructure, protect sensitive data, and solve complex operational challenges. Bringing a solutions-first mindset to public service, Shannon believes the same principles that make technology succeed should guide government: clarity, accountability, and measurable results. His policy focus includes economic opportunity, innovation, data privacy, and restoring trust in institutions by applying real-world experience instead of career politics. An author and small business owner, Shannon advocates for individual liberty, responsible governance, and practical problem-solving, approaching leadership the way an engineer approaches systems: understand the problem, design with care, and build for the long term.

Orrick Quick

Pastor, Community Leader, Speaker, Entrepreneur
Orrick Quick is a…
North Carolina pastor, community leader, motivational speaker, and entrepreneur who is running for U.S. Senate to challenge politics as usual and restore trust between government and the people. Raised in a family that overcame deep economic hardship, Orrick learned early the importance of integrity, discipline, and standing up to broken systems. For more than a decade he has served in churches, schools, and outreach programs—mentoring youth, supporting immigrant families, helping children become published authors, and walking with seniors through life transitions. His campaign is built on three pillars: ending government overreach, stopping what he calls “constitutional witchcraft” where laws are twisted to justify injustice, and taking care of the people who pay into the system by ensuring seniors, veterans, and working families receive the care they have earned.
Justin Dues

Working Class Fighter
As a Marine Corps veteran, entrepreneur…
and advocate for working families, Justin Dues brings disciplined leadership, real-world business experience, and a systems-level understanding of how policy impacts everyday life. He’s built teams, navigated complex institutions, and speaks plainly about fixing broken systems rather than protecting them. His #1 priority in the U.S. Senate is basic affordability—lowering the cost of housing, moving towards universal healthcare and by taking on monopolies, corruption, and policies that rig the economy against working people.
Robert Colon

Concerned Citizen
I am a caretaker, volunteer, and Eagle…
Scout. I want to do all that I can for the people. I take as my guide the Constitution of the United States. I have lived in North Carolina since 2004, and want to leave it a better place than I found it.
Elizabeth Temple

then began teaching privately. I graduated at East Carolina University with master’s degree in education. I also worked as choir director and organist at Methodist and Baptist Churches while teaching, I am a current licensed teacher K-12 at NCDPI (see NCDPI.com licensure lookup) then see my name, Elizabeth Anne Temple. I was married once. I have three nieces, Lily, Ahnala, and Willow Temple, and you will see them online, they play sports in public schools,
Don Brown

Constitutional Attorney
As a constitutional attorney, former JAG officer…
and U.S. federal prosecutor, Don Brown has spent his career defending the rule of law, holding criminals accountable, and protecting the rights guaranteed by our Constitution. He has seen firsthand how runaway federal spending, bloated bureaucracy, and weak enforcement have damaged public trust and national security. Don is running to balance the budget, rein in wasteful spending, and shrink a federal government that has grown far beyond its constitutional limits. He believes a smaller, accountable government serves the people — not the other way around. He is committed to protecting constitutional freedoms, including free speech and the Second Amendment, and to restoring lawful, secure immigration that puts American citizens and legal immigrants first. Don Brown isn’t running to manage decline — he’s running to restore accountability, sovereignty, and constitutional government.

Thomas Johnson

Former Founder & CEO of Agile Immersive Consulting
U.S. leaders who best understand…
the American promise are rarely those born closest to power, but those who travel farthest to reach it. Thomas Johnson is this kind of overcomer. Raised in foster care and adopted at age five, he learned early how institutions can fail or save those entrusted to them. That experience shaped a leadership style grounded in resilience. Johnson earned admission to the United States Air Force Academy, serving as an Air Force officer and later as a CIA Fellow, where foresight mattered more than recognition. At the National Reconnaissance Office, he helped build next-generation intelligence satellites and forecast the commercial space revolution. After government service, Johnson advised institutions at Lockheed Martin, Capital One, and Accenture before founding Agile Immersive, trusted by companies including T-Mobile, MetLife, and FedEx. An annual lecturer on AI in Germany, award-winning screenwriter, and foster-care advocate, Johnson honors God and family.

Focused on results and not rhetoric..
I want to protect liberty while incentivizing fiscal discipline and using logical consistency with policy. We need to redistribute power back to the people from Congressional leadership and lobbyists. Carteret County Sheriff
I am a Beaufort native and ECU graduate with a degree in Criminal…
Justice, entering my 20th year of service as Carteret County’s Sheriff. I want to expand the opportunity to serve the 23 counties of the new First Congressional District.
I will use the citizen-first, common sense approach I have implemented in my time as Sheriff to my service in Congress. This will include what I consider to be the litmus test of Conservatism in any legislative issue I encounter. Lower taxes, Less Government and More Individual Freedom. By sticking to these priorities, I will not only serve my constituents but also empower them. This is important because I believe that the answers to the vast majority of problems facing our area do not lie with more intervention by the Federal Government, but instead by empowering the people by unburdening them from the overreach of Washington D.C.

Tommy Mitchell (Write-in)

Former Civil Servant, U.S. Department of Education
Briefly, my bio includes public service for over 21…
years at the United States Department of Education, with a focus on persons with disabilities and assistive technologies. I am a 2002 graduate of the University of North Carolina at Charlotte with a major in political science and communications studies. I am also a graduate of Jacksonville High School and attended Regent University School of Law in Virginia Beach before securing employment with the federal government. Recently, I served as co-campaign manager for newly elected Jacksonville City Councilman, Jerome Willingham of Ward 1. I’m currently securing petition signatures for ballot placement for the Nov 3, 2026 election. For this particular campaign, I chose to run for this House Seat because I felt a strong need for “informative leadership” for the real problems of the District. This informative leadership is grounded upon practical solutions for better outcomes. I have a wealth of experience in government and corporate service, community service, trained leadership, and knowledge of the region. Onslow County and regions encompassing District 14 faces a set of long-standing, interconnected community concerns that directly affect the quality of life, economic stability, and trust in government. Quite simply, I don’t answer to a political party; I answer to the people of District 14.

Jim Harris

Incumbent Pender County Democratic Party Chair
Most people are tired of politics as usual…
and the abysmal performance of our elected officials. I am running for NC House District 16 to actively contribute to, effectively improve, and efficiently resolve House business. I’ve learned that reasonable people can solve almost any problem. Knowing how to do so, figuring out new ways around existing obstacles, and working hard will lead to the changes voters demand as well as lasting improvements over time.
Candidate qualifications are more than important. Collectively, our elected officials determine law and policy matters, promote or impede economic development, equal justice, and even generational improvements in the quality of life for NC residents. Individually, qualifications must include leadership experience, strong cognitive and communication skills, problem-solving skills, management skills, and a strident moral and ethical passion to serve.
My understanding of these responsibilities stem from my experience as well as my character – I value truth, facts, clear goals and accountability for results. Michigan was my first home, then Virginia. I went to public high school, then worked while attending Michigan State University, graduating with a BA in Finance. My wife and I have three adult children and six grandchildren. We bought our current home in 2017 in Hampstead.
My career began with IBM in Michigan focused on Healthcare Information Systems. Taking evening classes, I earned an MBA at Wayne State University. I retired from Intel Corporation as the International Marketing Manager for Cisco Systems.
All politics is local, and in Hampstead, I’ve served as a non-partisan official in both primary and general elections. After serving two years as 2nd Vice Chair, I currently serve the Pender County Democratic Party as its Chairperson.
I enjoy reading, traveling all over, boating, fishing, and spending time with our children and grandchildren.

Local Councilman and Educator
I am currently a councilman for the Town of Holly Ridge…
where I have served for the past several years. I bring over 20 years of experience in education and have long been involved in our local community through volunteer work with nonprofit and church organizations. Through both education and public service, I have worked closely with families, schools, and local organizations to help strengthen the communities we call home. My wife Nicole and I are raising eight children, which keeps us deeply invested in the future of our neighborhoods and public services.
I am running for the North Carolina House because I believe our region needs practical, results-driven leadership that puts people first. I support fiscal responsibility and believe government should spend within its means. I believe in protecting taxpayers and property owners by keeping tax rates in check, especially when rising property values and revaluations already increase the tax burden. My priorities include supporting strong public schools while respecting parental choice, responsible growth that keeps infrastructure and services in step, and ensuring emergency services are not stretched too thin, amongst other things.
My goal is to be an active, accessible representative who listens and delivers real results for eastern North Carolina.

Anita Earls

Senior Associate Justice
Justice Anita Earls is an experienced jurist and…
former civil rights attorney. Elected to the Supreme Court in 2018, she is running for reelection. Her values of justice, equality, and fairness for all were born of the struggle she experienced growing up in a mixed-race family at a time when interracial marriages were illegal in most of the country. These values shaped her passion to fight for the rights of ordinary citizens across North Carolina. For over 30 years, she stood alongside people whose right to vote was denied, people who were mistreated at work, and the parents of children being denied equal educational opportunities. Anita’s legal career began at the Ferguson, Stein firm in Charlotte. She served as a Deputy Assistant Attorney General in the U.S. Department of Justice, and then worked at the UNC Center for Civil Rights. Former Onslow County Law Enforcement
I’m Daisy M Haywood a resident of Onslow County since 1985…
Yes, I am a transplant who had roots in New York City and when my parents separated I finished growing up in Miami. My father is from Puerto Rico and my mother was from Cuba. They met in New York and had me. My English are compliments of Sesame Street and Public School 2. I married my high school sweetheart who became a marine, which is how I discovered Jacksonville NC. Unfortunately, the marriage ended. I did gain the title of mother and a son. I was interested in a career in law enforcement while in Florida. I even took the exam for the Miami Police Department where I passed only to receive a follow up letter indicating I was welcomed to take the exam again when I turn 20. I made the decision to pursue my law enforcement dream here Jacksonville. I’m happy to report the decision was definitely the right one. I had the opportunity to learn and train in different divisions. I also found love at the police department with Jazreal L. Haywood Jr. This union is still going strong where we will be celebrating 32 yrs. We also added to the family. All together we have 4 adult children, 3 were graduates of Onslow County School system. We hold the title of grandparents as well as great grandparents. I work part time as a defensive driver instructor at Coastal Carolina Community College and with our assistant district attorneys in traffic court. I’m running for a seat on our board of education because my experience as a parent and grandparent having had my kids and grandkids at Onslow County School System. This interaction provided understanding of the expectations and the partnership needed to equip my children or grandchildren to succeed. I also had the opportunity to be part of the school system when I accepted my role as a school resource officer. I was assigned to Northside High School from 2002-2007. 2007-2017 I had another assignment change when I became a DARE officer. This opportunity included several elementary schools as well as the schools on base. There was a middle school curriculum which was offered to several middle schools. These positions produced relationships with students, parents, teachers, support staff and principals that promoted and or assisted in helping the students to succeed. In fact, it has been these established relationships that encouraged me to take this journey. So, the why? I want to continue to be a positive support to our students, educators, and families. I want to be a part of moving Onslow County Schools toward the goals that will continue to enhance our children’s potential and their successes. I guess you can say I want to ensure the bridge we have between our students, parents, and educators is strong and in operating in working order.

Retiree
I have lived in Onslow County for over 40 years being employed…
as a blue-collar worker. I am a lifelong Republican and for the past two and half years, I have attended all the Board of Education meetings and numerous student events. The role of a board member must be one of a partner and advocate. Parents and community members want openness and access now more than ever. Over the past two years, I have learned where to access financial reports and how to ask questions to promote positive dialogue. A board must work together to achieve results. My goals include promoting career credentialing for our high school students to increase employment opportunities. It’s not about competition as a board member. We need to roll our sleeves up, listen to each other and the community to make our schools better. Promoting community involvement is vital to improving our community as a whole. Partnership, advocacy, access, and openness are key.
